Luminara: An Interactive Theme Park Map

My interactive, physical amusement park map represents an imaginary section/land (called Luminara, a made up planet) of an imaginary park (Galaxy Gardens). It has both physical (the 3D map itself created using various fabrication techniques) and digital elements (someone scans the AR code on the roof of a building, and a character of the land appears). This project is aimed at theme park goers of all ages to be both an interesting attraction to look at/further immerse them into the world of this hypothetical park, through allowing guests to unlock the story of the two dueling factions of the planet (the Solari and Noctari).

There were several processes I took to create Luminara. I used 3D modeling and fabrication techniques to make the physical map, physical computing to make attractions move or light up, computation (custom AR codes) and 3D modeling to create the digital storytelling element, and fabrication to create the to-scale stations. A full description of the progress I made each week (each step I took to create Luminara) can be found here.
